 Day 2:

Drugs and Disease Concepts

In 2nd Day Session was handled by Ms. S. Vensin Mary (ORW), Ms. T. Anusuya (ORW) and Mr. A. Sivanandham (Project Director of Bharathamatha De-addiction Centre IRCA).

Ms. S. Vensin Mary take over the session about Drugs Concepts. Under these concept explained about Tobacco and Cannabis Drugs. 

In Tobacco contains more than 7000 chemicals present and then 8 lakhs people were died while taking Tobacco. Around 69 Cancer causing substance present in the tobacco.

Forms of Tobacco:- Beedi, Cigarette, Hans, E-cigarette, Cool Lip, Pan Masala, etc.,

More people are smoking due to Peer Pressure, their parents smoke infront of child, Curiosity nature, Faulty role model.

Cannabis:-

      Cannabis is a Drug made form a plant (Hemp) that some people smoke for pleasure, but which is considered Illegal. Its more commonly called Marijuana refers to the several varieties of cannabis sativa that contains Psychoactive Drug (THC - Tetra Hydro Cannabinol).

Inhalants Drugs:-

        

      In these session was take over by Ms. T. Anusuya (Outreach worker of ODIC).

      

      Although other Substance that are misuse can be inhaled, the term inhalants refers to the various substance that people typically take only by inhaling. Inhalants are various products easily bought and found in the home or workplace.

       Inhalants products are such as Sprays, Paints, Markers, Glue, Cleaning Fluids, Whitener, Petrol, Hairspray, Spray Paints, Leather Cleaner.

          Mr. A. Shivanandham (Project Director of Bharathamatha De-addction Centre IRCA) take over the session about Disease Concepts. Under these concept explained about listed below.

      When a person drinking interferes with one or all areas of his life like Physical, Psychological, Family, Finance or Occupational Level, Self Esteem.

3. Alcohol and Brain.
4. Three Centre's (Reward Center, Memory Center, Judgment Center).
